Club Update – September 2022

Competition Update

Our Senior men commence their 2022 championship programme with a home game against Irvinestown this Saturday at 3pm. We are asking for help with stewarding and various arrangements on the day, so if you can help out in anyway, please let me know. Tickets are available to purchase at Fermanagh.gaa.ie/tickets and we would appeal for a strong support for the team. A season pass for all championship games is available at £60.

Our Senior ladies are sitting joint top of Division 1 with a crucial game against Derrygonnelly this Sunday at 10am with the team looking for a win to make the league final.

Our Minor ladies are in action on Thursday evening in Tempo in the Minor Championship Semi Final against Aghadrumsee.

A busy week of action continues with the U17s playing their second game on Sunday at 12pm at home to Derrygonnelly Harps and the U13 boys beginning their league campaign with details still to be confirmed.

Well done to the U13 girls who are through to their section final following a win over Newtownbutler on Monday evening.

Our underage teams have been very, very busy in recent weeks taking part in games, blitzes and trips all over Ireland. A massive thanks to all the coaches and parents that do so much to facilitate these activities and well done to all the children who are representing our club with pride.

Clean-Up

A lot of work has taken place in recent weeks to clean up and to maintain our grounds ahead of this busy period and thanks to all those who have put their shoulder to the wheel to improve things. We always have work needing done if you have an hour or two spare, so let me know if you can help out in any way.

Win a House in Fermanagh

Club Éirne, the fundraising arm of Fermanagh GAA, have launch a fundraising competition with the top prize being a new house worth £300,000 in Enniskillen. Tickets are priced at £100 each and buyers can nominate their club to receive £25 per ticket. We have 300 tickets to sell and all funds raised by Club Éirne will be ringfenced for further enhancements at Lissan to improve training facilties for county teams. If you are interested in buying a ticket (at £100 or in 5 monthly instalments of £20), please let me know. Even better, if you can identify 2 or 3 others that would buy a ticket, please encourage them to do so and I can provide you with hardcopy tickets or they can be bought online at www.winahouseinfermanagh.com.

Cairde Tempo

We are continuing to recruit members to the Cairde Tempo scheme, which is our main way of funding physical improvements within the club. Membership is £20/month and thanks to all those who have joined so far. The winner of the August draw for £100 was Neil & Eilis McGreevy.

Tempo Lotto

The lotto continues to be one of our main fundraisers to cover the day to day running costs of our club. We would encourage you to take part in our weekly lotto and an easy option is to play online. Enters your details once and you will stay in the draw for as long as you want with the same numbers. www.tempomaguires.gaa.ie/lotto

St Mary’s Primary School

Congratulations to Paul Fitzpatrick on his recent appointment as Principal of St Mary’s Primary School, Tempo. We cherish the close relationship we have with our local schools and plan to build on that in the time ahead.

Sponsored Walk

We were delighted to facilitate Grainne McGoldrick as she completed a 200 mile walk throughout August with the final 5km around our walkway. Grainne is fundraising for SWELL, a local charity that provides much needed services for local people affected by cancer. Christmas Gear Order

Details will be shared in the coming days on a link for people to order playing gear and leisurewear in time for Christmas delivery from O’Neill’s. We know that times are tough so we are keeping the prices as low as possible in an effort to maximise the number of people wearing our club gear.

Scór

Scór is the annual cultural competition within the GAA. The final of the Fermanagh Scór is on Saturday 17th September 2022 at 7pm. If you are interesting in competing in any of the following areas: solo singing, recitation, balled group, instrumental group novelty act or, if you have someone in mind who may need support, get in touch with Sean Murphy (07727927000).
