Club Update – October 2022

Scór

Congratulations to Ursula Fee and Tara Tierney on competing and winning County Titles at the Fermanagh Scór Sinsear finals. Ursula sang Down by the Sally Gardens to win the solo singing, and Tara won in the recitation. They both went on to represent our club and county with distinction at the Ulster Scór Semi Final at the weekend.

A word of Thanks

Thank you so much to everyone who helped get our grounds in excellent condition for the two big games we hosted in September and to those who helped out on the day. There was overwhelming positive feedback from those visiting on the condition of the facilities we have on offer and the number of people who volunteered with a range of duties on the day meant things ran very smoothly. Frankie Flynn took a lot of wonderful photos on the day that will showcase how well things looked and these are available to view at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=tempomaguiresgac&set=a.488404153295334

This Saturday, we will be hosting the Senior Football Championship Semi Final between Derrygonnelly Harps and Enniskillen Gaels. We are expecting a very large crowd at this game, so we are appealing to people to make themselves available from 2:30pm to help out on the day with stewarding, parking, selling lotto tickets, tidying up litter and a range of other roles. If you are available, please let me know.

Senior Men

Our Senior Men will be in action against Belcoo O’Rahilly’s on Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm in Brewster Park in the Intermediate Semi Final. Tickets are available to purchase at www.fermanagh.gaa.ie/tickets and are £2 to cheaper to purchase online than by paying at the gate. This is a big game as our men aim to reach a first championship final since 2016 and it would be wonderful to see as many Tempo supporters in Brewster Park as possible.

Senior Ladies

Our Senior Ladies will also play in an Intermediate Semi Final on Sunday as they take on Brookeborough at 10am in Maguiresbridge with a place in the County Final on the line. We wish them all the best and encourage supporters to make the short journey to support the team.

Well done to Bláithin Bogue who was named in the TG4 Junior Team of the Championship 2022 and who received an Irish News All Star for her performances on the Fermanagh team this year.

Underage Teams

Huge congratulations to our Minor girls who were victorious in the B Championship Final last month over Belnaleck, winning on a scoreline of 8-08 to 6-07.

Our U16 girls are currently involved in an appeal to the Fermanagh Ladies County Board over short notice being provided for a Championship Semi Final. Updates on the outcome of this will be shared with parents and on social media in due course.

Our U13 girls reached their section final only to lose out to Knockninny by a single point after Extra Time. This group of girls have been committed and worked extremely hard at every training and match, they have been a credit and a pleasure to see them develop and grow in confidence. We have no doubt this group will continue to develop and grow – well done all!

Our U17 boys are struggling in a competitive Division 2 of the Football League but they have another 3 games left to play before the beginning of the championship including a trip to Derrygonnelly this weekend.

A very young U13 boys team are going well in their league with 3 wins from 3 with 5 games still to play and they are improving with every game. Their next fixture is against Aghadrumsee St Macartans this weekend.

Floodlights

Work is progressing well on the erection of the floodlights for the training pitch with all the necessary cabling now in place. The 3 poles and light fittings around the path have been installed and will be operational in the next few days. The poles from the top pitch with lights shining down are delayed due to ground exploration but we are progressing with the poles down below, hoping that there will be sufficient light in the short term to allow some training to proceed. We have also agreed to install additional streetlighting to provide safe access from the changing rooms to the training pitch, which will be completed in the very near future.

Gym

The gym is now fully operational but we are still awaiting the installation for a finger print access control system. We have decided that all members of the Cairde Tempo scheme (including their cohabiting partner or spouse) are entitled to full membership of the gym. Anyone else seeking to use the gym will be required to either join the Cairde Tempo scheme and make a monthly payment of £20. Players who are neither Cairde Tempo or Gym members will only be allowed to use the gym under the supervision of a qualified instructor who is part of their team’s management and only as part of a training session.

Cairde Tempo

We are continuing to recruit new members to the Cairde Tempo scheme to fund ongoing works within the club and we would appeal to you to consider contributing to this scheme if you are not already a member. The cost is £20/month or £240/year and all funds from this will be used to fund development works within the club.

Win a House in Fermanagh

As you will probably be aware, Fermanagh GAA in conjunction with Club Éirne, have recently announced their ‘Win a House in Fermanagh’ competition www.winahouseinfermanagh.com. There is now an installment plan where people can make 4 payments of £25 to be entered in the competition. We have tickets to sell within the club and any we can sell will generate £25 for the club and if we can sell the 300 we have been allocated, that is an income of £7,500 for Tempo Maguires. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket, please let me know or if you can sell a few tickets, we would be delighted to have your help.

Lotto

Our Lotto jackpot this week is £8,100 and will continue to rise by £100 each week if there is no winner. Until further notice, if there is no jackpot winner each week, one lucky dip winner will win a £100 ticket for the ‘Win a House in Fermanagh’ competition – a wonderful prize! Tickets still cost £1 – play online at https://www.klubfunder.com/Clubs/Tempo%20Maguires%20GFC/lotto. Subscribers can tick the auto-renew box meaning they only have to enter their numbers once and then stay in the lotto as long as they like, paying automatically every 8 weeks.

Pitch Signage

Thank you to all our sponsors for contributing towards our club. There has been good progress on this in recent weeks but we could do with another few people to help out gathering sponsorship. If any member can help out with recruiting sponsors, please let me know. Anyone who would like to sponsor a sign can find out more and make payment at https://www.klubfunder.com/Clubs/Tempo%20Maguires%20GFC/ShopItems#Pitchside_Sponsorship_at_Tempo_Maguires

Irish Language Survey

We have partnered with An Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha, with assistance from Glór na nGael and the Gaelic Athletic Association, to find out your thoughts regarding the Irish language within the club. This will help to inform the club regarding future language provision and planning. This language development work is being undertaken through the, and the results of this survey will be available to relevant members within both organisations. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey at https://forms.gle/RERpXYFi5soroADE6
